MCX

MeasureColor eXchange is an open, readable XML specification to share job presets

Exchange of color targets and other print quality requirements between stakeholders in the supply chain is essential in our industry. Brand owners, premedia companies, and printers need a clear, efficient, digital way to share spectral color targets, production tolerance levels, and measurement conditions. For this purpose, MeasureColor developed MCX and stands for MeasureColor Exchange file.

MCX enables Brand owners, Premedia agencies, and Print Suppliers worldwide to share color and print quality specifications in a very efficient way. An MCX contains ALL details that a press operator needs to produce a print job according to the customer’s expectation.

From MeasureColor, you export job presets as MCX. Share MCX files with other users/stakeholders via email or any structured repository of your choice. The receiving end imports MCX files in their MeasureColor. MCX adds and updates the MeasureColor database automatically. Imported MCX items like color books, measurement conditions, tolerance settings, and job presets are automatically locked to ensure nobody tampers with customer specifications.

Besides technical print quality requirements, an MCX also contains information about the original creator, brand categories, design numbers, packaging type, substrates, etc. This comes in handy for further print quality analysis, color consistency improvement, and for benchmarking the overall process across all stakeholders in the supply chain in MeasureColor Reports.
